No wifi connection from rp2040 to IoT Cloud

So a piece of my rp2040 fell off right out of the box a few weeks ago and I am thinking it has something to do with why it wont connect to the cloud. i know that it is related to the wifi module but I am hoping it wasnt detrimental and there is a way that I can still use it. Maybe another wifi shield or soldering it back on?

Hi @kf1989 that component was the antenna for the Wi-Fi modem on the board.

Your photo is too blurry to know for certain, but generally when something like this happens the pads on the circuit board are torn off. It is very difficult to repair the board once that occurs. The repair would usually consist of carefully scraping away the solder mask to expose a segment of the connecting traces and then doing a very delicate soldering job to make the electrical connections to that exposed copper. For most people, it is not worth the effort to make such a repair, which is never guaranteed to be successful.

You can still use the board for projects that don't require Wi-Fi communication, but I would suggest buying a new board to use for projects that do require a Wi-Fi capability.

Dang, that sucks. I dont have the other piece for a return either but good thing these aren't expensive. I appreciate the feedback, thank you.

If it fell off "right out of the box", I think you should still have a good claim for a replacement.

Have you called the supplier to ask - nicely ?

Yeah I just did it. It was ordered from Amazon so I should have known it would have been pretty easy. I just figured that I needed that piece.
