Not able to control WS2811 LED strip via FastSPI_LED2 library on Nano clone

I am currently creating a LED based clock, displaying the time with a RGB WS2811 60 LED strip. I first created the clock using a official Arduino Uno and got the basic functionality working nicely. Now with the code working I wanted to use a Arduino Nano v3.0, to hide inside the clock, so I bought what I believe is a clone from ebay.

However it doesn't control the lights. I have run some basic sketches, such as Blink etc, so I know the board is working.

I have also tested with the example code provided with the FastSPI_LED2 I am using, of which works just fine on the Arduino Uno, but not with the Nano clone. The only difference in the wiring is that on the Arduino Uno I am using pin A1 for the WS2811 LED strip and using A6 on the Nano.

Hope someone might have some experience with this issue... Thanks in advance... Morgan

Pin A6 is analog only.

Thanks for your quick response fungus.

I have swapped my pins about to use A1 like I did originally with the Uno and the Nano works just fine.

Cheers, Morgan

Hmmm - i'll try to grab one of those clones - it's possible one of the pin mappings is off. Also, I should test with the analog pin mappings, I know they're just #define's the appropriate digital pin, but still..

I'll see if I can squeeze a fix for this into RC3!

Any chance you could share your FastSPI_LED2 clock sketch please?

Of course

There is a link on there to the code. I will be making changes to the code in the coming week, so keep an eyeout for the update. If you add any functionality, be sure to let me know and I will update my code , if appropriate.

Cheers, Morgan

Thank you very much.

A6 & A7 are analog input only, a restriction of the '328P hardware.
Not a pin mapping issue.

No, A6 and A7 simply don't work as digital pins. It's a limitation of the chip, nothing you can do.
