Overall Introduction of New Crowtail Modules

Elecrow has produced a new series of Crowtail modules these days. The Crowtail products are basic-functional modules like light sensing and temperature sensing. The Crowtail is a ready-to-use tool set. With these Crowtail modules, users do not need to deal with the mess jumper wires or debug the electronic circuits, they can just plug the Crowtail modules to the base shield and then play!

The Crowtail series products are composed of the Crowtail base shield and other functional modules.

The Crowtail base shield is a standard IO expansion board of the Arduino. It regulates the IOs of Arduino to standard Crowtail interfaces, which can be sorted into 3 kinds: Analog(A),Digital(D), Uart(U) and IIC(I).

The Interfaces that marked “D” are the digital interfaces, which can be used to read or control digital Crowtail modules such as button or LED. Besides, some digital pins can be also used to generate PWM outputs. The “A” marked interfaces are “analog ports” with digital function and beside this, these ports can read the analog signal, such as a potentiometer or light sensor. The interface “U” can be used for the UART communication, such as the wifi modules or Bluetooth module. The interface “I” is for the IIC Communication, users can utilize 2 IIC modules at the same time.

Currently, there are more than 30 kinds of the most popular Crowtail modules being available, like: the basic environment sensing modules such as temperature / light / moisture / sound loudness / Barometric pressure sensing modules; The basic human interface modules such as LED/Buzzer/Button/Touch/OLED Display/Joystic; and other modules such as the RTC/BLE(Bluetooth 4.0) /ESP8266 WIFI and so on.

The crowtail products simplify the learning process significantly and very easy to use. functions such as environment sensing and human interfacing. Small size, user-friendly design, unified appearance, wider application range and more professional are its fantastic features. The most excellent feature is that it can be used with grove compatible just via connecting wires in different standards. Besides, the Crowtail can be cost-effective that offer high quality in most competitive price. In a word, it can be your good choice to install in your projects.

These look a lot like TinkerKit, but a lot cheaper.

Hi, i am great you like it. This series of Crowtail modules are invented and produced all by Elecrow, thus, the price can be much more favorable。 By the way, we also have produced our new 3D printer recently in the most competitive price. Maybe you are interested in it.

We work with Crowtail Starter Kits for school, we also have single Arduino's. with breadboard.
I found some pro's and con's.. As they call it a starter kit, it would be easy if they give more comments on their basic codes that they supply. I'm forced to look up a lot of code, else where with their features.
Connecting I've got 2 thoughts of:
One way, connecting the sensors on the arduino base shield is stable. You won't get a wire loose so easily & your circuit won't get intermittent. But the con is disconnecting with some sensors they hard to get off aswell... Any ways they have some differences with just a regular arduino, in they way of connection. Some sensors have less pins than usual, that makes the Trig & Sig pin combined for example, wich make the translating of code sometimes a bit confusing for me. That's just my opnion tho... if your more advanced it wouldn't be a problem I guess. But for a starter kit it can be sometimes be a struggle. Anyways I'm learning to get used about thing as I advance so, guess it was a sort of learning process there.
