Power supply to Arduino in a TB6600 configuration without a USB connection

Hi folks. I am new to Arduino and to this forum and had a question about using it with a TB6600 and a stepper motor NEMA 17 with arduino. Most tutorials I saw had the Arduino being power supplied from the USB of a PC connection. What about if there's no need for a PC after the sketch was downloaded to Arduino? Can you supply power to it from the same power supply that feeds the TB6600 (provided it can afford the total current needs of course).

Yes You can. Use a step down converter producing the needed Vcc, 5 or 3.3 volt depending on which controller You use.

Thanx much for quick response. Is Arduino not doing the conversion automatically if you supply power on the normal supply connection (not the USB... that one is indeed 5V). I thought Arduino accepts up to 12V incoming power supply.
