Pro Mini to USB Converter Advice in 2024 Please

Time for a recent question here w/ regards to connecting a Pro Mini Atmel 328P to Win10 for programming.

Here is a converter today on Ebay described as
" FT232RL FTDI USB to TTL Serial Converter 3.3-5V Arduino Pro Mini + Cable 0188 "
FTDI USB CONVERTER on Ebay

What do you think? I am a total noob, first post, didn't even realize I couldn't plug & play the knock-off Pro Minis (3 ea.) I picked up a while back...

PS: I'll need the female-to-female straps that come with.

Here's a pic of the cards I have to program:

That converter will work. If you can afford it, consider [s]https://forum.arduino.cc/t/pro-mini-to-usb-converter-advice-in-2024-please/1256732[/s] Pololu USB AVR Programmer v2.1 . You don't need the cable as it straight away plugs in.

Those that have one (I have the older one) swear by it. Added advantage is that it's also an ICSP programmer.

I like and strongly recommend this programmer, which acts as a USB serial port, "FTDI" programmer, and also as an ISP programmer. Best I've every used.

Solder male header pins to the Pro Mini to make the connections.

Maybe you meant to link to the Pololu programmer in jremington's post?

I only have 3 pro minis to program for future projects, not even sure what I'll be using them for. Immediate plans utilize UNO cards. Too bad I can't just daisy chain a pro mini to an UNO and program it like that.

Apologies; I did fix the post. Not sure why I linked incorrectly.

You can program pro-mini with uno (if it has removable chip), but it's more practical with $2 usb-ttl
