Problem with connecting some arduinos and not being seen as devices connected to my computer (win 11)

i got a problem with my os(probably): i have many arduino boards, my arduino nanos and my esp 32 when i try to connect them to my windows 11 computer they do not show up on "device manager", neither under "com & ports" nor under "unknown devices" and i can't find them in the "usb devices" either. the boards both work when i tried to connect them to annother windows 10 computer and they work just fine(i have tried the "blink" program as a reference).

When connecting to both computers i used the same board and the same calbe.

I already tried to install, uninstall, update all the drivers related and updated any pending un-updated firmware, the only thing that seems correlated is that the esp 32 and the nano both have micro usb, the mega and the uno are usb type c so it might be something between windows and the micro usb controller in the board, but it is my personal speculation.

i have already tried a lot of things and none of them worked so please help us, thanks & have a nice day.

Ok, so can we clarify please;

The Mega (2560) and UNO R3 usually have the larger square type conector, i.e. type B 2.0:

USB-C is the more modern type of connector that can be found, for example, on the Uno R4.

The ESP32 and the Nano have a Mini B type port, although there are some Nanos with USB-C ports. The Nano every has a Micro B type port.

So you have at least two types of cables: one for your Nanos and ESPs, and another type fot your Megas and Unos. So could we confirm that you have tried alternative Mini B type cables for your ESP and Nano?

Secondly are you saying that the Mega and UNO work on both Win 11 and Win 10, but the ESP and Nano work only on Win 10?

Can we confirm that the Nano is, in fact, a clone using the CH340 chip?
Can you confirm that you have the CH340 driver installed on both Win 11 and Win 10?

Post photos/exact specifications of all the microcontrollers which are facing the issue.
Clearly state which microcontroller is not working with which laptop/windows.

ohh, thanks i didn't know the category thing, really appreciate it, thanks!

i have not tried annother cable BUT i have used the same cable on annother windows 10 machine and it works properly, i can upload sketches from the other machine and everything works fine, but with the same usb cable that has prooven me to work with the other computer and the same exact board, when i plug it in my windows 11 computer i get no response, the computer does not make the sound of a device plugged in and in the device manager tab you get no other devices to show up.

yes, the arduino nano and esp are only working on the other windows 10 machine, not on the windows 11 machine that i got.

yes, the nano is not original but it clearly works because i can use it on the windows 10 computer and the chip is the CH340.
yes, i have installed the CH340 driver, when i did it though it said that that specific driver was already installed.

here is the picture of all my microcontrollers that i have right now(the mega is not there because i don't have it right now but it worked fine):

here is a picture only of the micro controllers that do not work:

if you need any more pictures don't be afraid do ask, thanks.

hi, i have tried to use the program "USBDeview v3.07" and after checking the program and seeing if it worked fine(by plugging & unplugging devices from my computer) i tried with the nano board, it does not work, even when trying to manually refresh the page nothing changes in the gui, when i try with my arduino uno instead, the gui updates and tells me that i have connected that board, what should i do next?

also just to specify the ports of my arduinos, i got the R4 minima so it has usb c(as i said) and also a modified mega that has usb c too, the uno and the esp have both micro b usb(i noticed now that there was some confusion and stuff so i wanted to specify).

Hi @tiffany1. I can't be certain, but it looks like the ESP32 board uses a Silicon Labs CP210x USB to serial bridge chip, not a CH340. So the CH340 driver is not sufficient for the ESP32 board (though the Nano derivative board probably does have a CH340 chip).

However, even if you don't have the CP210x driver installed, you should still see something in Device Manager and USBDeview.

Make sure the USB cable is fully inserted into the socket on the board and on the computer. If it is not fully inserted, you could have a situation where the power lines are connected (and thus the LED on the board lit), but the data lines are not connected (and thus no port).

Do you see an LED lit on the problematic boards when you connect it to your computer with a USB cable?

hi, the esp board driver is installed too, but it it also true that i do not see both devices in device manager, the arduino and esp are both with the light turned on and fully working, the usb cable is fully inserted and it works fine, i have not tried the same usb cable connected to a micro b usb device because i do not have any in my house, the usb port that i used in my windows laptop is the same that i used to connect the working boards and the problem does not appear with the uno and mega.

@tiffany1 you mentioned that the microcontrollers worked on windows 10. Was there any other diff between the laptops other than the windows version.
Ex: Different drivers installed

Also , even after the error faced by the microcontrollers in win 11, if you plug the microcontroller back into win 10, does it still work.(This is importaant to know as if your answer is no, then it may indicate that you may have a problem with the board itself)

Have you checked for any unknown devices which show up when you plug you boards in?

yes, no devices show up, they don't show up in "unknown devices", they don't show up in "usb devices" and they don't show up in "ports(com & lpt)" either.
