So I got a usb host shield from aliexpress as I didn't know where to find one that would work well, to connect my uno board to a ps3 controller. When connecting the ps3 controller with a usb cable, the controller turns on and the board detects the inputs and it works fine, as long as the board is being powered by the usb connector with a computer, the moment i add a different source of power, like a 9 v battery, even if still connected to the computer, the host shield will stop detecting the controller. Not only that, but any type of device that doesn't have it's own chargable battery, like a mouse or a bluetooth dongle, doesn't get detected or powered no matter the power source. Does anyone know of a shield that actually works as intended, preferably purchasable throught amazon or aliexpress?
Bit of an oxymoron that isn't it?
might help to have info...
Which shield? ... Link.
Hooked up to ? i.e. which Arduino?
the shield is the following:https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005006004929430.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.53.21ef194dzjEya9&gatewayAdapt=glo2esp
and the arduino is a standard arduino uno board
