I am just getting into using an Arduino for a project and I went to upload the sketch onto the Arduino and I got this error

Which board?
Which operating system?
Which version of the IDE?
Please enable verbose output during upload and disable verbose output during compilation in file/preferences in the IDE. Next perform an upload and post the results here.
Thanks for using code tags in your first post
You need to go into tools and set up for the proper board.

For the Nano, you have 3 options for the processor in the tools menu. Based on the output that you have provided you did choose the 328P option. Try the "old bootloader" option; although ai do not now for sure that you have a clone, most clones require that option. Some clones come with the 168 processor, so that is another option to try.
thank you the old bootloader option worked I wouldn't have even thought to try that
