Proximity sensors to objects passing at high speeds.

hi guys
I need one proximity sensor to detect objects passing at high speeds.
I need accurate measure of 0m to 2 meter
I´m not sure which is the best solution, sonar, laser, ir.

these ones :

  • STM32
  • HCSR04
  • SRF08 ( too much expensive )
  • sharp GP2Y0A02YK (just 80cm)

any suggestion ?
thks for all.

Define high speed. What is the object (its composition, size, etc.) who's velocity needs measuring? Describe your project requirements better, Without more info we can't help much.

hi.
thks for reply.
I will measure large objects ( 2m highg *3m long) such as containers, drums, pieces of sheet metal. And they will be going at speeds from 40 km / hour
I need mesasures of 0 to 2 meters.

Do the objects move along a fixed path ie. a conveyor or along a walkway? Are they made of metal? If they are moving on a conveyor you can use light gates or inductive (if metal) sensors. The better the description detail the less guessing and the more solid help we can give. Drawings or pictures of your setup will help a lot, too.

it´s something similar to this.
I cannot use the other side to measure.

update, any suggestion ?

Laser rangefinder, like the Lidar-Lite (currently out of production to due company sale).

thks for upgrde, but. it s too much expensive.
budget : about 20-30 eur.

So, this is an industrial grade process but your budget is hobby grade.

Expect a hobby grade, rather than an industrial grade solution.

Could you put a reflector(s) on the side?

No. I cannot do it. In the other side I just have air

Yes, i know it  , this is a school project simulating profesional enviroment . I am going to use several sensors to check. Also, the project will be "O.source 100%" and low cost.
