i would like to use this small keypad to navigate a menu with various options
since im not very good with arduino at the moment(still getting use to it) i have no clue on how to read the inputs from the buttons ive tried digitalRead which "sorta" worked but only for a few buttons in a recent post i found a psion revo and retrieved its monochrome lcd display i was hoping to use the keypad with that and have a small OS on it
any help would be appreciated

Its probably multiplexed
do you have a Digital Multi Meter ? that has a ohm meter or continuity checker.
If not, go out and buy one, even the $15 ones are ok for basic work
Then you can "buzz" out which wires connect to which buttons and draw yourself a schematic diagram
Once you have that, you'll be able to work out how to connect it to the Arduino
