Question about alternatives to Sim800L

Hi, Id like to know what alternatives I can use to replace the sim800L module. Im from colombia and 2g modules have been shut down; because there isnt any support. Id like to send data to firebase, but in case that I cannot Id like to send at least messages.

Context: I want to make a project which I could send my currently location to a database(firebase) and graph it on a page. The gps Im using to read the information is Neo 6m, and until now Im sending the data to firebase with a ESP8266; even though I dont want to require local WiFi.

you'll need a 3G module or better then

how were you sending the information?

You could use the simcom 7600 "G" module. I belive it works world wide on 4G network (check the documentation). You also need a IoT simcard.

This module contain GPS inside. No need for extra neo gps. Simcom 7600 can send gps NMEA data. Or you can call for parsed gps data thar arrives in a large single string by request.

No - 3G is getting shut down even more quickly than 2G !

So you'd be better with at least 4G - if you want to stay with cellular.

Are NB-IoT and/or Cat-M available in your area?

Alternatives to cellular include LoRa or LoRaWAN and SigFox.

What range do you need?

There are many other sub-GHz technologies which can achieve quite long point-to-point distances...

Depends where (france and Europe have dependencies on it for millions of emergency call sustems in cars) and so it’s slower but indeed many regions are shutting it down too.
