Question about transceiver modules and range

Hi , i am trying to build a long range wire-less master- multi-slave network , where one master will forward data to multiple slaves simultaneously . I searched up online , and found that the HC-12 is a good module , having a decent range (upto 1000 meters) , but project requirement is 2 Kilo-meters . What i want to know is , what is the maximum number of slaves that i can operate using one HC-12 master and other HC-12 slaves? And secondly , if there's any other transceiver module available that you would suggest , which suits my fore-mentioned requirements (i.e long range and multiple slave support for a single master)

Typically they will do about 10 times the distance of the HC-12, but can be slowed right down if you must and go maybe 30 times further.

The limit on how many transciever devices can be in network is really down to how the network and the packet format is structured.

Incidently quoting a distances out of context is a bit meaningless.

There is a great deal of difference betweem 1km at low level in an urban area versus what you might get with unobstructed line of sight (LOS) where you might get 1000km with the same setup.

Hi, the HC-12 modules attained 1.2km in unrestricted LOS setting. However the project that i want to implement , would be in an urban setting . walls , concrete and everything included, so, if i want to achieve the said distance of communication , would the LORA modules do the task?

You will have to do an experiment. The modules are cheap and easy to use, so determine the maximum range attainable in the actual setting where they will be used.

As has been suggested, you would need to experiment.

Although the LoRa modules are far more likley to achive what you want over the HC-12.

And saying walls, concrete etc is also a bit meaningless, as the construction and thickness of walls, size of Windows etc varies so much.

And I doubt the HC-12s would only achieve 1.2km unrestricted LOS, they ought to be capable of 10km or more @ 10mW @434Mhz.

But again, you need to experiment, and do report back.
