Question about USB-C to DC jack adapter

Hello,
Can you please suggest, which USB-C to DC jack adapter exactly I should buy from Amazon (US), so I can use it to power the board, instead of singe UCB-C?

Thank you

Good news: you don't need an adapter at all. The VENTUNO Q already has a second power input besides USB-C, a 5.5x2.1 mm barrel jack (and a screw terminal) that accepts 7 to 24 V according to the official VENTUNO Q datasheet. So a standard DC supply with a 5.5x2.1 mm plug is all you need; the datasheet gives 12 V / 5 A or 24 V / 3 A as recommended examples and suggests 60 W or more for heavy workloads. Keep in mind the board will not switch on below 7 V. Both inputs are reverse polarity protected, per the same datasheet.

Hi @dkorzhevin,

You can search for "Type C USB-C Female Input to DC, 20V". Just as en example, this item Amazon.com: 2PCS Type C USB-C Female Input to DC, 20V USB C to DC Power Cable Adapter, 5.5mm X 2.1mm 100W PD Power Cable : Tools & Home Improvement works as expected.

G.

Well the screw terminals need 7 to 24V and the barrel jack need 12 to 24V, so if you wanted to use USB-C, it must be USB-C PD and you would need to buy a USB-C decoy module to get 12V.

Why do you want to do this?

This is not required. You can simply connect the VENTUNO Q to a USB-C charger with a USB-C cable using the adapter @manchuino linked to.

You do need to make sure that the USB-C charger and cable are capable of handling the peak current draw of the VENTUNO Q and attached peripherals:

https://docs.arduino.cc/tutorials/ventuno-q/power-specifications/#board-and-som-power-draw

Under worst-case conditions, with the MPU, NPU and GPU all running simultaneously at full performance, the board can draw approximately 25 W or more

https://docs.arduino.cc/tutorials/ventuno-q/power-specifications/#recommended-power-supply

For heavy workloads, a power supply rated for 60 W or greater is recommended

Arduino offers a 65 W USB-C power supply, which includes a barrel jack adapter:

Arduino also offers a high quality USB-C cable:

As a promotion, these items are currently included free with VENTUNO Q purchases. @dkorzhevin did you choose the Arduino 65 W power supply when you purchased your VENTUNO Q?

@ptillisch No, I have not yet received my 65W power supply. Could you please let me know if there is still a chance I could receive it?

Did you purchase the VENTUNO Q from Arduino Store? If so, please contact Arduino customer service via this form:

If you instead purchased from one of Arduino's distributors, please contact their customer service.

In case it wasn't already clear, the reason I asked about the power supply is because the adapter you need is included with the power supply.

I purchased from the official US Arduino store - https://store-usa.arduino.cc/

Thank you for suggestion, I just sent support request using this form.

I probably wouldn't have this problem, if I did not performed Ubuntu update yesterday (sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-upgrade), and now my board is not booting, nothing on monitor.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I saw you posted in Ubuntu updates on VENTUNO Q. To be clear, the advice there is against updating the version of Ubuntu installed on the VENTUNO Q. The Ubuntu version is not updated by sudo apt-get update && sudo apt upgrade. This only upgrades your installed Debian packages.

There isn't a known issue with upgrading packages, but on the other hand it is possible that there is a problem with some package or combination of packages you installed. I can tell you that I just performed a sudo apt-get update && sudo apt upgrade package upgrade and my monitor is still showing the expected content.

Do you see the Arduino logo, and then the beating heart on the LED matrix when you power the board? Are you able to access the shell on the VENTUNO Q by clicking the >_ ("Connect to the board's shell") button near the bottom left hand corner of the Arduino App Lab window running on a separate machine (or by using ADB or SSH directly if you prefer)?
