R4 Wifi + USB Host Shield NOT WORKING

Background Info: I'm trying to use an Arduino R4 Wifi (bought through the official provider from Amazon), connected to a pre-soldered USB Host Shield with the 74HC125 chip ($19.39 - USB Host Shield for Arduino - Tinkersphere).

Every time I try to plug anything into my USB Host Shield, it does not work. I have tried two separate mice, one wired and one Bluetooth, and also tried connecting my phone to see if it charged. Absolutely nothing. I'm thinking it must be some kind of hardware issue, because the USB Host Shield is soldered the correct way, and I tried using the version of the USB Host Shield Library 2.0 that had settings compatible with the R4 Wifi (and the script uploaded seemingly just fine).

Am I screwed because of the two 74HC125 chips? And if so, will I just have to buy the $30 74AHC125D version from the website I linked?

Or maybe there's an issue with your code.
