Raspberry Pi and Arduino External Power Connection Problem

Hello everyone
Nexiton display - Arduino - (USB connection) - Raspberry Pi connected like this, then connected to Arduino with a 9vDC jack.

If you connect it like this, the display and Arduino work, but the raspberry pie doesn't work

Why do you need external power? USB power from the RPi isn't enough? It is on mine, even for a Mega2560.
