Reading the serial monitor wirelessly

We currently have an arduino uno that we need to be able to see the serial monitor without the arduino being connected to a PC. The data will then need to be sent to excel, (which we already have set up) But I am not sure how we could do this. Is a wireless USB the answer? I have no idea

I don't know anything about wireless USB. Can you post a link to the device?

If the PC has Bluetooth, that would be an easy way to send the data via wireless serial. WiFi is another way. Or you could have a receiver like a RF24 radio and another Arduino connected to the PC to receive the data.

Any of those solutions require that you have a program on the PC to receive the data and send the data to Excel.

I don't have a link to the device because it probably doesn't exist, it was just an idea.

If anyone can tell me the most simple solution, that would be highly appreciated. I need this done ASAP and it is a very important grade. Also please include a link to anything that might help me.

Providing you a solution to this school project so you can get a "very important grade" is helping you cheat.
Not a priority for most here.

Does the PC have Bluetooth?

Yes, the PC does have bluetooth

Not really sure if its fair to call this cheating, our teacher encourages us to use our resources.

Ok. So now you need a Bluetooth module for the Arduino. Sparkfun sell a range of different ones.

The latest is Bluetooth LE which may not work on computers more than 2 years old. Check your system carefully before buying.

Hopefully your teacher does not encourage you to get your homework done by others, but Arduino can talk wirelessly via HC-05 Bluetooth to PC with Bluetooth, and using a proper terminal programme like Realterm. In short, forget the serial monitor.

Can I really forget the serial monitor? I think I need it to run the program that imports it to excel. (PLX-DAQ)

You need to be somewhat more clear about what you want to do. PLX is a macro for Excel that effectively turns it into a terminal. It has nothing to do with the serial monitor, although you might be able to see the play of the game simultaneously with it. If your real objective is to send data direct to Excel wirelessly, the answer is most probably yes - providing that PLX can see the port the wireless device is using.

All you need to do is ensure that PLX can see the port Bluetooth is using. This may not be a problem with PLX v2, but it was with the original. If you do have a problem, you may be able to shift the port - or the bluetooth.

It is clear that the OP (rexleyme) has not asked for solution of any kind -- he has posted his idea and tried to gather opinions of the Forum members.

Many posters of this Forum are providing solutions to many school assignment tasks; doing so, are they (the posters) co-operating those help seekers in cheating? Arduino UNO Kits are now education learning kits even for the school going students at institutional levels. There are many bright pupils and many are slow goers; the slow going students deserve helps from the Forum in the language of their understanding levels.

Yes, definitely.

Whandall:
Yes, definitely.

So, the help seekers and the helpers are all virtually cheaters in your language. Let me ensure you that your motive will not see the light of the day.

That is not what you asked, you are moving the goal post, that's disingenuous.

If they are looking for someone that does their homework or assignment, they are cheating,
if you help them by providing the solution, you only help your ego, not the pupil.
