replace variac with arduino

Hi

I have been using this variac for a while now to dim my motor : https://www.ebay.it/itm/392000510207?ViewItem=&item=392000510207&ppid=PPX000608&cnac=BE&rsta=nl_BE(nl_BE)&cust=91Y09980PL0812836&unptid=befd0970-3df1-11e9-b148-441ea14e5960&t=&cal=6a02fe532839a&calc=6a02fe532839a&calf=6a02fe532839a&unp_tpcid=email-receipt-auction-payment&page=main:email&pgrp=main:email&e=op&mchn=em&s=ci&mail=sys

I was wondering if there is any easy way to do this with arduino, using some breakout board or anything.

What i basically need is an AC voltage dimmer which is controllable through an arduino.

Any advice?

Thanks.

There exist AC dimmers without any controller. Problem is which one fits your motor. Finally what's the job of the Arduino in your project?

IF you are looking for something that does what your transformer does, then the answer is NO! If you are looking for something that reduces the power to the motor by chopping of part of each cycle of AC current going to the motor, then that is possible.
