Replacing a mystery board for RGB with a Uno

Back late last year I brought a Ambilight USB device to get that fake ambilight setup. All was fine but recently it just stopped working. Googling about online it seems the device inside was a bit of a mystery. So using somewhat simple logic, I realise the Arduino Uno looked similar but is far more capable.

However my RGB strips have been wired up to use the circular port next to the USB. Plugging this in and running FastLED does nothing as I presume the RGB should be using Pins instead.. However the RGB is technically wired up for its own power supply (one for data, one for power).. I am rambling a bit. I am basically trying to figure out whats the best approach to reuse the RGB with the Uno, would it just be a case of ripping the original wire out to get the pins for data, or can I set this up to use that port instead?

I've added some pics of the old device and the way the RGB is wired, as it is basically the set up I need, but the wiring a little different. Ofcourse my RGB may be broken. .more than anything I just wanna try and get some data to it, but unsure if I can be using this port. New to these devices, but not new to scripting. Maybe should have sat down and read up a little more tho..

The strip is out of focus and too far from the camera for us to get any clues about what type of strip it is.

The cables seem to end in a barrel jack and what might be an in-line barrel socket, but again, that's not clear in the photo.

The board seems to have a barrel socket. Does/did the strip connect to that? Or is that socket for connecting a PSU to the board? Where does the in-line socket (if that's what it is) connect to?

Do you mean plugging that barrel jack from the strip into the Uno's barrel socket? The Uno barrel socket is a power input only, not an output for either data or power.
