What exactly do you want to reset on the board ?
If you have uploaded a sketch then you will need to upload the default sketch at least to get it back to "factory settings"
i would like to erase the esp chip. Whatever i doe it keeps remembering what was uploaded first (for example the wifi network).
Try burning the bootloader
And what is wrong with that, it's the reason the esp chip is on the board
