Hi guys,
I've ordered a cheap 5mtrs led strip from ebay today, and i wonder, is it possible to control each led on those strips? It would be awesome to create some kind of RGB animation.

It will depend on which strip you ordered. Some can be individually controlled. Some have all the LEDs of the same color connected together.
Thanks, and i just found out that the one i ordered .. is connected in parallel, i guess i need to place a new order, heh.
I'm planning to install a set of 8x 20cm strips to an octocopter, but i wonder, would a mini board be sufficient to control these strips or do i need something else too?
It will depend on the LED strip's power requirements. If it needs more than 5V or more than 30 mA then you will need a resistor and transistor to connect the Arduino pin to the LED strip.
Hey.
Try to have a look at the WS2811 LED strips being sold on eBay. like this example.
They can be controlled individually, and only require 5V. (be sure to check out the required voltage. I read about someone getting a 12V version instead).
For controlling the WS2811, check out this blog: FastSPI LED Effects [UPDATED TO WORK WITH FastSPI_2] » funkboxing

a) What strips? My crystal ball isn't working.
b) Don't you think it would be a good idea to ask before ordering?
Try one of these —
You need to know which type of led strip that you purchased. And if u want to control the led, then u need the controller.
