Hello I would like to ask assistance (Kinda a newbie in terms of hardware in Arduino), I have a project of line following robot, the L298N is directly powered by 6V and is connected to 2 12V GA-12 DC motor. Then the direct supply is also connected to my Arduino Uno which is connected to my TCRT5000 IR sensor. Is it the battery that is the problem?

Yes... Your 6vdc supply is insufficient for two 12vdc motors. Your teacher needs to know that you do not understand. Get the correct-size power supply or supplies from your teacher.
Show a wiring diagram of how all the devices are connected.
Your motors are 12 V rated (GA-12 12V). You’re powering the L298N with 6 V. That’s under-volting the motors — they’ll be weak or may not turn properly.
