RS485 Shield

Hello all
I just bought a RS485 shield, and have a general question about the RX/TX pins.

I see that my shield is connecting to the RX/TX pins on the Arduino.

Will this conflict with the serial communication to my pc?

I'm sure you meant to tell us which one.

I see that my shield is connecting to the RX/TX pins on the Arduino.

But, is it actually using those pins? All the Arduino pins should be connected to by the shield. But, that doesn't mean that the shield uses the pins.

For something more than a smart-assed answer, you really need to provide more details.
