Scrolling text going to far through text buffer

I obtained code from a few different sources to put together what I have below. It works great and displays the “Hello World!” just fine. But then it keeps scrolling into all the other characters that have been defined in the code above. I suspect that the counter in scrollMessage keeps incrementing.

Any ideas?

Try increase the size of bufferLong

Okay, I'll try that when I am with my device later today. I was having trouble understanding the purpose of that constant because it seemed like increasing it would increase the text that was displayed.

I tried modifying bufferLong and it does modify how the text is displayed, but does not stop it before the additional characters are displayed.
