Hi. I’m looking to hold a Séance party and would appreciate suggestions that would help me to select simple hardware and code to assist in my desired illusions. I’m an Arduino beginner, so this will help me focus my studies on fruitful time investments and not get lost on tangents. I’m very experienced with handling general electromechanical hardware. Here is the context, constraints and my desired outcomes:
- I would have multiple teams of 2 or 3 people that would that would fake contact with a fake spirit. Each team will try to surprise and entertain other teams. They would use a concealed remote control to trigger:
- The playing of a sound effect or voice recording not to exceed 10 seconds.
- A mechanical device e.g. make a lamp chain rattle or a birthday card fall or other like manifestations.
- The receiving device would be placed in hidden locations in a room and would play the sound or trigger the mechanical action.
- Maximum distance between sending and receiving devices would be 100 feet.
- The remote control(s) would fit in a pocket or hidden under clothes. It would not have a visual interface since the activation is to be done discretely in the dark.
- The receiving device may or may not make use of cheap sound players or old cell phones / mp3 players.
- Since there will be multiple teams, one team's remotes shouldn't trigger another team's devices.
- Inexpensive and simple.
- All done with intentional humor, laughter and surprise. Halloween - like silliness for grownups.
- The experience: The room would be very dimly lit. Observers sitting in couches facing a round table. Each team will have a turn at the table to contact their spirit. At least one team member would be at the table. The other team members may sit at the table or sit anonymously on the couch and run the remote controls. Outrageous humor will be encouraged during contact and channeled dialog / monologs with spirits. When the Séance is over, everyone will vote for the most entertaining spiritual contact.
