Why does 491310 show this in response to the number 1?
491310 is ASCII 49 (ie 1) ASCII 13 (ie Carriage Return) and ASCII 10 (ie Linefeed)
If you enter 2 then you will get 501310 and so on. The CR and LF are being added by the Serial monitor Line ending setting
What happens if you use Serial.write() ?
