Hey guys, I am a high schooler who knows how to work with Arduinos. I am planning to write an introductory guide to Arduinos (written in LaTeX) intended for other high schoolers and electronics enthusiasts. When I was first introduced to the world of microcontroller, it was daunting and overwhelming. This is why I feel a short book guiding someone through the very basics would be useful I want to make this book free for all, and hope it can be a valuable resource for others trying to learn how to work with Arduinos. Ultimately, I hope to create a guide which teaches some basic theory, how to use and connect basic input/output devices and use them to create projects. I certainly would've loved such a guide when I was getting started. Also, if anyone has any suggestions for certain chapters I should include, any projects or any other ideas, it would be much appreciated. Would this would be a good idea to pursue, or are there such resources already out there? Last - does anyone know how I could share this short book once complete? I would like to distribute it well and have impact in the Arduino community. Thanks

Of course you should write it if you feel motivated to do so. I would be happy to give you feedback on your drafts if you would find that helpful. For ideas about style read the various tutorials on this website and elsewhere and consider what you find helpful and what puts you off. Keep in mind that it's pretty much impossible to write for everyone, what is a clear explanation to one person is a confusing mess to someone else, this is normal, don't be put off by it.

Such as: [image] Digital Circuits 7: MCUs... how do they work? We look at the ATMega328, one of the most prolific 8-bit MCUs. The '328 can be found in the Arduino UNO and various other microcontroller boards. To better understand MCUs, and be able to work with them more effectively, we need to go inside and... Writing it will probably make you a better mentor too. Here is a collection of things that might give you some ideas. Yes one tip. Explain with clarity the difference between 3.3V Logic Level devices and those that use 5V Logic Levels. Quite a lot of modern sensor or interface boards are 3.3V logic level, whilst a lot of the common Arduinos, UNO and Nano for instance are 5V logic level, which can (and does) cause interface problems.

Among other things, you could do worse than cover off most of the items listed in this recent thread: [image] Looking for common bugs in Arduino projects General Guidance Hi! I'm trying to build a system that enables people to easily debug during the Arduino project,I hope you can give me some ideas about some common bugs that occurs during the Arduino project. grinning_face Also, a lot of beginner tutorials here might give you fodder for some good sections: Tutorials Tutorials for new people on the forum.

[image] vivan_13: does anyone know how I could share this short book once complete? I recommend publishing the information as a website instead of a formal "book". The tech stack I would use for this specific type of project is: Content source written in the Markdown markup language (not LaTeX). Static site generation using the free open source Material for MkDocs. Free site hosting via GitHub Pages. You can see an example of a website built on that tech stack here: https://arduino.github.io/arduino-cli/ This tech stack is somewhat limiting in terms of what is possible to implement in terms of design and capabilities of a website, but it is more than sufficient for the purpose of free sharing of information. It is ideal for someone who wants a free solution that is relatively simple and maintenance free, while also retaining control over the site (which is not the case with the popular commercial website building platforms like "squarespace"). Markdown is very simple and intuitive. I fact, you probably wrote your forum post in that language without even realizing it. Material for MkDocs is also quite simple to use. It does have a lot of configurability, but the default settings are quite nice so it is not necessary to put the effort into learning about all the options. GitHub Pages is a good option for hosting the site because it will be convenient to host the content source and configuration file in a GitHub repository anyway. If you are working with Arduino or computer science/embedded systems in general you will likely end up finding a GitHub account and familiarity with the basics of using the site useful beyond this specific project. The github.io domain is provided for free, but you can also use a custom domain for your site (e.g., vivian_13.com) if you like. However, you do need to pay for registration of the custom domain, and take on the burden of renewing the registration.

Should I write this guide?
