Hi, I was doing a project with the SIM800L (The chip itself, not the module) And it has too many pins, to be specific 88, and many of them I had never seen in my life. I've gone through the datasheet multiple times, but this one is very long, so I was wondering if anyone knows how I can connect it to an ATmega328P-AU. I want to simply be able to send AT commands to call, receive calls, send SMS, receive SMS, etc, and integrate a small microphone and speaker so I can talk and listen in on calls. And if possible, I'd like to know what some of the other major pins do in case I want to add more stuff in the future. I have attached a picture of the pinout. Thank you.
What is the default baud rate? What does it output when you send it AT+ commands?
9600 baud, Ok.
Well, that's a good start. The manufacturer will have published a reference hardware design that you will be able to thin down to your needs. Is it on a breakout board? if I was doing it I would add an antenna and a SIM card and see what I could make it do with simple AT+ commands.
If you aren't capable of at least doing that, there may be someone on the forum that is willing to get you up to speed. I'm not that person though.
