Simple test to see if esp8266 is working on mega2560 with built in esp8266

Does anybody know how to properly set it up (i set the dip switches and installed the CH340), the mega works normal with the dip switches however after searching for a while i couldnt find any simple code to test it
Is there any way to just for instance make the esp controll the built in led or write something on the serial monitor?

Google will find you plenty of hits for this board and examples . Not used it myself and unsure if any I/o for the 8266 part are bought out ? ( maybe on the back ?)
