SSD1306 allocation failed - Can't use IR sensor?

Hey everyone!

I have a tiny screen I am using and wanted to extend my project with an IR Sensor so I can press a button to change what is beeing displayed.
This all is just for training purposes.

The display works on its own.
The IR works on its own.
But as soon as I try to marry the sourcecode in any kind of way I get the error "SSD1306 allocation failed"

This is the code I am using - it's mostly example code and nearly everything is commented out.
When I run the board like this the screen shows the last buffer.
But as soon as I try to use the code bit in the loop-function, the error is beeing thrown.

Why do I get an allocate error here?
And what can I do to achieve what I'm trying to do..?
I know there is only limited amout of RAM available, but the loop function is only listening and executing a function - can this really be too much?

I tried removing most of the sourcecode and even minimizing the loop-function to only obtain the listening part for the IR-Signal but it changed nothing.

Try running the I2C bus scanner to see if a conflict exists. Also, check wiring.

Your code compiles, without error, (for me) after removing the decode() parameter, per instructions:

It’s likely you don’t have enough memory to start the display .
Get rid a lot of the drawing stuff that you aren’t using

Please post the memory report produced at the end of compilation, and state which Arduino you are using.
