Stepper motor/sensor delay

I have been having a hard time on this project. I have never used a stepper motor before. Here is the outline of the project. I am building a box to run on a clothesline left to right. The stepper motor will run to the right until the proximity sensor is met and held on for 1 second on the right side.( this it to prevent spiritic movement) Then the stepper will move to the left.
