Stepper Motor advice

Hi there, i have a metal sphere weighing 9kg.
The sphere radius is 37cm.

I am considering this motor here

I am looking to sit the sphere on the motor and rotate the sphere at a slow speed 11RPM

Will this stepper motor work? I also am looking at a simple drive controller to vary the speed.

It would be great for your advice...

Remember! The stepper stops between each step, is that what you are designing?

Oh, I hadn't realised that. I need the motor to have continuous rotation. The motor will be hidden in a 2 timber circular base/2 inches thick

Then you need to research a DC motor with a gear train that will give you the RPM you need.

I had looked at this one but is rather large and couldnt find a more suited smaller motor...

Did you take into account the transmission of motor noise to the beam. Or the heat dissipation of any type of motor? Wood is an excellent transmission of sound as well as an excellent insulation to hold in motor heat.

Okay, i had not looked at this properly. Thank you for your advice. I will research this more and see how I go. Thank yiu again...
