Excuse me for being slow in sorting this out. I wish I would have moved towards LINUX years ago, but I stayed with Windows. I am see many posts with terminology that does not make any sense to me. I hope that some very specific instructions can be provided to be able to do the programming on the Q …

Found this link, may be getting somewhere. [image] Limitations of the new Arduino Applab App Lab I find the Applab very interesting, but I’ve noticed two drawbacks (at least for now). First, when you code a sketch — at least on Windows, since I don’t have a st…

[image] frankbicknell: For example where are the files stored. The best I can come up with is that when you press run, they are downloaded to the board. Do they exist on the windows PC? Applications are stored on the UNO Q in a directory called ArduinoApps. The full path is: /home/arduino/Ar…

[image] frankbicknell: I hope that some very specific instructions can be provided to be able to do the programming on the Q from windows with something better than App Lab (no offense). I have downloaded VSCode, Now what? I never use VSCode so I can’t help with that. If you are a beginner yo…

VSCode is definitely working with Uno Q, using it daily and forgot about AppLab nightmare forever. I even start stop my apps from cmdline. You can't use password auth with VSCode remote ssh plugin, so you need public ssh key. If you ever used GitHub, you have it already.

Sure, I change python and sketch code, push it to git, format/refactor/copilot - whatever. Then run with arduino-app-cli app start You can add brick to yaml directly, but for this I usually fire AppLab for one minute

Does this mean that the script will still be run within a container? I'm trying to make a tkinter GUI that changes based on functions in the sketch, and I'm wondering if this is a good way of going about it

Not a good way honestly. UI from the container is hard to forward to your host x11, it is possible but hard. I would consider two options: WebUI brick. There are many examples how to change UI state based on MCU data. Html/css/js skills are needed Run your tkinter python on host (without conta…

[image] mcguinty42: Does this mean that the script will still be run within a container? The Python script component of an Arduino App is always run in a container. If you want to run a Python script outside of a container, you must do that by working through the Linux machine on the UNO Q, …
