stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding – "Mac OS X"

I'm posting this to help others, hopefully.

I couldn't upload the example sketch ‘Blink’ to my new Nano 33 IoT to save my life.

After a couple of hours of troubleshooting, I finally realized that the PEBKAC. I had selected the wrong “Arduino Nano” from the drop-down list of boards. :-[

For future searchers, I'm also going to include the error output.
