So, this is my first project using an arduino or anything similar. I have been attempting to connect my nano every to my PC to upload code, but it wont connect. Can I get some help?
I have tried 3 cables, with one being an amazon basics usb-A to micro usb
I have tried this on a windows 11 laptop and a windows 10 PC
It isn't showing up in device manager under the ports and isn't making the sound when you connect to a usb device.
Thanks!
Have you verified that your cables are data/sync cables and not charge-only cables? Cables that e.g. come with e.g. power banks and Bluetooth speakers are usually charge-only.
If you have a cell phone with the same connector, does your PC detect the cell phone when you use the same cable?
I don't have anything else that really uses micro usb, but from what I have seen I'm pretty sure its a data cable.
This is the link to the cable.
I have also seen online that data cables have long connectors on the end, which this cable has
Here is where I saw it: Identifying data transfer micro USB cables vs charge only micro USB cables - Super User
I could be mistaken though, as I cant check with anything else to see if it works
That cable looks alright to me.
The Nano Every has a power LED; does it switch on when you connect the board to the PC?
The board should come with the blink sketch preloaded. Does the built-in LED blink?
Further I would not know except that your board might be broken.
Note:
I don't have a Nano Every so can't be of much more assistance.
No, unfortunately the board doesn't light up when plugged in.
Thanks for the help though, I'm happy to know my cable works
I have several Nano Everys and all connected to my PC without difficulty. You do have to wait until the drivers install, but the power LED should come on straight away. Can you successfully connect a different device to the same physical port on the PC? Have you another PC you can try (or perhaps a PC belonging to a friend)?
