I'm looking at ways of integrating wireless with arduino. I'm thinking that an xbee will be the most sensible way to go, but I'd like a straightforward and reliable way to interface my xbee enabled device with my laptop.
I found a zigbee usb stick made by Telegesis - does anyone here have any experience with this?
I've used the Telegesis ETRX2 modules and they are really easy to use. The USB stick is just one of these powered off the USB port of your PC, providing a virtual comm port to communicate through. Just issue the AT commands to the comm port that the driver sets up.
If you get stuck, their tech support is good and gets back to you within a few hours.
Be mindful that their new ETRX3 modules are due out in a few weeks which may not be 100% compatible with the ETRX2s.
