TEMT6000 - can it measure more than 1000 lux?

Using a simple equation, a conversion to lux can be obtained. However, the measurement is limited to a maximum of 1000 lux. Is there a way to get more than 1000 lux?

Read the datasheet of the sensor for the maximum amount of light it can measure.
Then check the datasheet for an application to measure a large range.
Bad luck: The maximum amount of light it can measure is not in the datasheet.
The tutorial of Sparkfun does not tell it either: TEMT6000 Ambient Light Sensor Hookup Guide - learn.sparkfun.com.
The graph in the datasheet is for a range of 10 to 1000 lux. That same graph is in the Sparkfun tutorial.

Solution: Buy an other sensor.
You can not measure sunlight with a sensor, for sunlight you need a dark filter.
When you want to measure lux, buy a sensor with a digital interface that tells the lux.
