The Arduino App Lab doesn't detect the new Arduino UNO Q 4GB version

Hi everybody

I received my new Arduino UNO Q (4GB RAM version) today. I installed Arduino App Lab 0.3.2 from the official Arduino website, but the software does not detect the board.
My system is an ASUS Vivobook S 14 with an Intel Core Ultra 7, 32 GB of RAM, running Windows 11. I’m connecting the board through the laptop’s Thunderbolt 4 USB‑C port.
I’ve tested two different USB‑C cables:
• the one I normally use for other STM32 microcontroller boards
• an Anker Prime Thunderbolt 5 cable
Neither cable allows the board to be detected.

Can you help me please, thank you

Hi @primer102. Please try this experiment and then report the results:

:red_exclamation_mark: This procedure is not intended to solve the problem. The purpose is to gather more information.

  1. Disconnect the USB cable of the UNO Q from your computer.
  2. Open the Windows Device Manager.
  3. Select View > Devices by type from the Device Manager menus.
  4. Open the "View" menu.
  5. If there is a to the left of the "Show hidden devices" menu item, click on "Show hidden devices" to disable it.
  6. Connect the UNO Q board to your computer with the USB cable.
  7. Watch for a new device to appear under the "Ports (COM & LPT)" section of the Device Manager tree.

Did you see a new device appear in the "Ports (COM & LPT)" section of the Device Manager tree after you connected the USB cable?

You can repeat steps 6 - 7 multiple times if you are not sure.

No new COM port shows up

Mostly been using mine in SBC mode but did have to hook up to my windows, forgot the password..

I used a standard usb c to usb a and plugged into an usb-a port and used adb to change password..

if you have a usb-c to usb-a, maybe give that a try..

when you plug it in, the board should start displaying on the led matrix, does it??

good luck.. ~q

It works when I connect it to a USB‑A port using a USB‑C to USB‑A cable. But honestly, the Arduino team should take this report and try to address the issue, since more and more computers only come with USB‑C or USB‑C Thunderbolt ports. I could open a ticket or report the problem on GitHub. Thanks for the help.
