Tiny RTC Charging Circuit Schematic

Gentlemen,
I am trying to use this cheap RTC DS1307 module (Tiny RTC) for a clock
project using Arduino. I want to use a CR2032 back-up battery. By doing
some research, I found a schematic diagram.

The included schematic shows a charging circuit connected to the back-up
power which requires a rechargeable back-up battery.

The note in the schematic requires that to be able to use the CR2032
non rechargeable battery, a circuit modification must be done that
includes the removal of several components.

It is my understanding that the modification accomplishes the purpose
of removing the charging circuit but, other than the replacement of R6
by a jumper wire (I guess to increase the CR2032 output to pin3), why
is it necessary to remove the other components since my circuit
interpretation is that the diode removal will simply accomplish the
required modification? What am I missing here?

I will appreciate any opinion or advice.

See this post partic entry #21 which explains things .

Ricky101,

Thank you . Now I understand - that was the answer I was looking for.

Regards.
