Tools for diagnosing intermittent connection issues?

Welcome to the group.

  • Here are some things suggest you follow when prototyping.
    • Use Dupont ended jumper wires with solderless breadboards.
Lean to make these jumpers yourself so you can confirm their quality.
Use silicone insulated stranded wires. 26/24AWG even 28AWG. check out the strand count of these.

  • When using prototyping PCBs, solder connections, here is a link for you to review. Post 1398.
  • DVM is a must have.
  • A simple logic probe like this can quickly identify problems.
D2 is not needed, it can just be a wire.
The two probes can be joined.

  • Wiring neatness is something you should always strive for.

  • Avoid high air wires as they can more easily be disturbed.

  • As with everything, the more you do the better things turn out.

  • Do not plug components into solderless breadboard holes with leads larger than 24AWG solid wires.
