Trying to use Arduino Uno on the IDE

Hello, there

I tried uploading the canonical 'blink ide' sketch. and I get the following error message:

avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "/dev/ttyACM0": Permission denied
Failed uploading: uploading error: exit status 1

Is this error tied into the serial port of the Arduino UNO, or does it have something to do with the configuration of the circuit.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I failed to mention that im referring to the LED blink program that comes with the IDE
