ILI9488-555 works a treat with the mcufriend_kbv library
There are a number of topics I have read that discuss turning off the backlight and the closest I seem to have to a solution is MCUFRIEND_kbv Library for Uno 2.4, 2.8, 3.5, 3.6, 3.95 inch mcufriend Shields - Displays - Arduino Forum , this suggests switching the 5v power off by using a transistor and switching power on and off to the LDO on the TFT.
The topic ref above suggests cutting the track from the 5v to the LDO, I can't see a track or a component connected to the track so I suspect it is on the underside of the board which you can't get to easily.
I used a bunch of extention cables to connect the uno to the mcufriend shield. My program didn't run, I expect maybe the cables were too long BUT the TFT lights up. I manually disconnected the the 5v wire AND found that the TFT stays on.
So if breaking the 5v connection will not turn off the TFT will the transistor mod make a difference, if yes why?
If you have make a mod on the hidden side of the board how do you manage to get the screen off ( apart from very carefully ) .
