Ubuntu 20.04 freezing after closing serial communication in Arduino IDE 2.3.2

Currently I am trying to upload codes to Arduino via Arduino IDE 2.3.2. I am using the .Appimage file on Ubuntu 20.04 running on VM virtualbox. My host OS is windows.

One problem I am currently having is, whenever the serial communication is closed either by closing the serial monitor or after finishing a code upload, the ubuntu 20.04 virtual machine is not responding. I can't also stop the Virtual machine in this condition. So I had to end the task in task manager. What can I do to fix this issue?

I did some experiments with my VirtualBox VM and ran into the same problem you had with the VirtualBox guest completely locking up when I attempted an upload.
