Unable to burn bootloader. Target=Uno, Programmer=Nano

Hello. I have an Arduino Uno R3 that I need to burn the bootloader on. I'm attempting to use an Arduino Nano as the ICSP programmer to do so. I have the latest versions of the Arduino IDE (2.0.3) and Arduino AVR Boards Board Manager installed (1.8.6). Unfortunately, I keep running into verification errors that cause the bootloader to fail to upload. I'm following these two guides:

My boards are wired as follows:
Programmer Nano --> Target Uno
ICSP header, 5V pin --> ICSP header, 5V pin
ICSP header, GND pin --> ICSP header, GND pin
ICSP header, COPI pin --> ICSP header, COPI pin
ICSP header, CIPO pin --> ICSP header, CIPO pin
ICSP header, SCK pin --> ICSP header, SCK pin
D10 pin --> ICSP header, RESET pin

The Nano is connected to my PC via USB. I am able to successfully upload the ArduinoISP example to it.

I then switch my Board in the IDE to the Uno, and the Programmer to "Arduino as ISP", while keeping the COM port the same as when I uploaded to the Nano. Once those settings are confirmed, I hit "Burn Bootloader" in the IDE. Below is my output (verification error at the bottom):

"C:\Users\mhorn\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\arduino\tools\avrdude\6.3.0-arduino17/bin/avrdude" "-CC:\Users\mhorn\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\arduino\tools\avrdude\6.3.0-arduino17/etc/avrdude.conf" -v -patmega328p -cstk500v1 -PCOM5 -b19200 -e -Ulock:w:0x3F:m -Uefuse:w:0xFD:m -Uhfuse:w:0xDE:m -Ulfuse:w:0xFF:m

Failed to burn bootloader: uploading error: exit status 1

I'm at a bit of a loss as to why this setup isn't successfully burning the bootloader. Any help is greatly appreciated!

According to the command line:

"C:\Users\mhorn\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\arduino\tools\avrdude\6.3.0-arduino17/bin/avrdude"
"-CC:\Users\mhorn\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\arduino\tools\avrdude\6.3.0-arduino17/etc/avrdude.conf"
 -v -patmega328p -cstk500v1 -PCOM5 -b19200 -e -Ulock:w:0x3F:m -Uefuse:w:0xFD:m -Uhfuse:w:0xDE:m -Ulfuse:w:0xFF:m

you did not try to replace bootloader, you tried to erase the entirely chip.

What for? What did you try to achieve?

@b707 the "Burn Bootloader" operation triggers two sequential avrdude commands:

As I see, OP faced with errors at the very end of flash:

Perhaps the chip can be used below this address if OP wouldn't try to erase it?

You’ll have to forgive me, I’m a bit of an Arduino amateur. I’m not doing any extra commands myself. Literally just uploading the ArduinoISP example to the Nano, and then using the IDE to burn the bootloader of the Uno. Any erasing it’s doing is default behavior from my perspective. Is there a way to change that?

For additional information, I am attempting to burn the Uno’s bootloader because I also get avrdude bit mismatch errors when trying to upload a sketch to it.
