Unable to get data from USB HOST Shield and keyboard

Hi all. I am trying to use a USB host shield to read keystrokes from a keyboard, but i am unable to receive any data from the shield. I have the following products

A Arduino Uno
A USB Host Shield link
A generic keyboard link
5V power supply

I already soldered the 3 power pins pads 5v and 5V and 3.3V. I uploaded the USB host shield library and uploaded the USBHIDBootKbd and the serial monitor says start and then when i press any key nothing happens

I tried uncommenting this line //USBHub Hub(&Usb); NO change

I tried using the multimedia keyboard example NO change
I tried the HID mouse example and No change

keyboard and mouse work.

multi-meter testing
USB pins have 5V and GND connected
Vbus is 5V
Vin is 5V
5v is 5V
3.3V is 3.7V

What do I need to do? My plan is to make a Arduino with the keyboard connected and you type a password and it unlocks a relay.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Please explain how you are trying to receive the data.

Post the code, using code tags, and a wiring diagram showing all connections, with pin designations clearly labeled.

Did you connect the grounds?

I am using the Serial Monitor.

I am using this code from the library USB Host library 2

#include <hidboot.h>
#include <usbhub.h>

// Satisfy the IDE, which needs to see the include statment in the ino too.
#ifdef dobogusinclude
#include <spi4teensy3.h>
#endif
#include <SPI.h>

So i reread the library page and realized it said it needs a Arduino Leonardo or 32u4 or SAMD board. I got a Arduino Leonardo and uploaded the keyboard sketch and it works. Thank you for the help!
