Same issue happens when navigating to the Unread for the Showcase category.

Observations

  1. I might have read the topic partially. That might be one possible cause but I've never observed that before. Reading the topic completely solved the issue.

  2. The last reply https://forum.arduino.cc/t/arduino-table-fan-with-different-speed-levels-make-your-own/1408082/30 was modified by system.

When I looked at that topic, the last reply for me was from jim=p, post #30.

Post #9 has been deleted, so there are now only 29 posts in the topic.

Why did I receive a notification of this post?

Because I posted a link to your reply in the other topic.

Is that how it is supposed to work?
Why should I care if you posted a link to a topic I posted in.

As far as I know. Maybe it can be switched of in your settings but I could not find it immediately.

It would indeed be excessive to receive a notification under those conditions. However, the notification was received not due to the fact that the link is to a topic you posted in, but rather due to the fact that it is a link directly to a post you made in that topic.

As for why you might like to know that someone linked to a post you wrote, there is a good chance you might be interested in the new discussion. Perhaps it will contain new information on a subject that interests you. Or perhaps you will be able to make a valuable contribution to that discussion. Additionally, it can be nice for helpers to receive feedback that a contribution they made is having ongoing value as a general reference, rather than only a one-time value within the context of the discussion in which it was made.

We have seen evidence that most of the helpers are not bothered by receiving (IMO) far less useful notifications:

so it seems that notification "noise" is not a significant concern to the forum helper community in general (including myself).

Ahh, yes now I see.
Thank you
