Use sound input as speed control

Hi, I am pretty new to the Arduino world, but I have for some time had my mind on a project I now want to get started on.

My project will be a 24v DC motor, which I want to control by sound input.
For comparison: I have seen some videos of some LED lights which will light up when they receive sound input, and I am wondering on how I could do this with a motor.
Also, my ultimate goal would be to not only activate the motor by sound input, but also controlling speed by volume input.

Has anyone done something similar, and maybe have some pointers on how I could accomplish this?

Do anyone want to recommend a training classes I could assign myself to, that will help me achieve my project goal?

All replies are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Your project involves 2 parts.
One is detecting, or measuring sound.
The other part is controlling a motor.
Lots of them has been handled in forum.
You can use the Search Forum functtion in this window, up to the right.
Try "Arduino + sound detection" resp. "Arduino + motor".
That could get You started.
