Using a multimeter to read values off of a UV sensor

Hi guys! I am a junior researcher in my high school science research class. My experiment involves the detection of UVC radiation. Thus, I purchased an Arduino UV sensor chip (Adafruit 1918 Analog UV Light Sensor Breakout - GUVA-S12SD). I am not very savvy with wiring or electricity, but the hope is to be able to rig the chip to a multimeter and test the voltage put out by the chip. I watched a youtube video where this exact sensor was rigged to a multimeter and a 5 volt battery (both of which I have and can be seen in the attached picture) but unfortunately in the video there is tape over the pin holes of the sensor. Therefore, I cannot see how he wired the multimeter and 5 volt battery to the chip. There is a “-“ pin, a “+” pin and an “out” pin. If anyone could help me understand which pin holes should be wired to the multimeter and 5 volt battery to produce values that would be greatly appreciated! :slight_smile:

I did scan this over but I can’t really wrap my head around what it means. I just need to know which wires to hook to which pin.

What is so difficult about:-

To use, power the sensor and op-amp by connecting V+ to 2.7-5.5VDC and GND to power ground. Then read the analog signal from the OUT pin.

Why did you mark that post as a solution when it is clearly not because you don't understand it?

+5V connects to the + terminal
0V connects to the - terminal AND to yor voltmeter black wire
OUT connects to the voltmeter red wire.

Is that big thing a 5V battery?

Have you measured the voltage from the "battery" with your meter?

As I said, I am not savvy with wiring and thus the vocabulary used in the text is not familiar with me. Secondly, I am new to the Arduino forum so I did not purposely mark that response as a solution. Please be patient, I am very new to these things.

Yes it produces close to 5 volts. And thank you! I will try this configuration.
