I've seen that the ESP32 can be used as an AP from the router to the end device. But is it possible to use an ESP32 like an AP that connects to a cell tower or other like a smartphone would? I imagine the board would act like a router but not connected to LAN.
I have searched for answers but I've only seen answers about using it as a normal WiFi extender. I know a bit about basic networking, so feel free to use jargons. I've attached an illustration below for how the network would look like.
