Using Raw Relays vs. Relay Modules

Thanks for those details, it's been a while since I chopped one of those switches and made one of these (mine originally used an ultrasonic sensor to trigger the fogmachine via relay module in this switch, external 9V battery to power the arduino).
I thought you meant you wanted to try to control the fog machine with a solid state relay at the AC line itself, on the switching hot on a short extension cord, for example. My profile picture here depicts a "magic" treasure chest that uses two such SSRs on the back to switch lights at different intervals using the method I just described, direct from the Arduino digital out.

I have the exact same 400 watt fog machine :stuck_out_tongue:. I have a few, the 1000 watt ones are really no better, the one you have does the job just as well at least for my applications.

If I may ask, what are you making? Is it a Hallowe'en prop?

Yup. It's in two parts - this is the last sub part of synchronizing the cannons, I have the LED's and sound all worked out.

This is one of the Craigslist foggers, I have like six of them all together but only using 3 for this project.

The second part is animating the skeletons on the ship. :stuck_out_tongue:

Shiver me timbers, me hearty! T'is a spooky vessel indeed! :metal:

Here's a fritzing. I could find no symbols for the IEC connectors, but this is tried and tested. Done for the weekend.
