@diamondemon By the way, although the DMAC may or may not be appropriate for your application, it does offer more in the way flexibility.

By changing the "descriptors" (instructions that tell the DMAC what to do), it's possible to trigger a one shot capture, or alternatively capture a sequence of periods and pulse widths to an array in memory, with an optional interrupt when the transfer is complete.

Oh that is helpful indeed, it would help reduce the frequency of the analyses (even if they are longer, frequency is what bothers me the most).
